Auditions & Workshops

AUDITIONS for SPRING Productions

by Molière
directed by David Eppel
Auditions will be held this Friday, September 22 at 4pm-9pm and Saturday, September 23 at 10:30am-5pm. Students must be familiar with the play and be prepared to read from select scenes provided (memorization not required). Sign up for a group audition slot at the ’62 Center callboard located by the Theatre Department offices. Perusal scripts can be found at the callboard. Callbacks will be held Sunday, 2pm-6pm.
Rehearsals begin January 31 and performances are March 8-11, 2018.
Get ready for a Baroque romp, a minuet in rhyming couplets, and a wicked, hilarious satire, complete with keyhole peepers and eavesdroppers. First performed on May 12, 1664 at Versailles for Louis XIV, Tartuffe was instantly banned and had to be rewritten so as not to offend the church, the aristocracy, the king, and just about everyone else. Watch as the ruling classes are hoisted by their own hypocritical petard. All of the above, and much, much more, awaits…in thigh-slapping iambic pentameter, no less.

Making Plays to Make Your Career: A Professional Theatre Development Workshop.

This workshop walks you through the step by step of the actor/writer collaboration on a new script. You will work with two New York playwrights at the height of their young careers (Max Posner and Sarah DeLappe) as Broadway and film actress Jessica Hecht coordinates a Sunday session with the writers and three separate Sunday workshops, which combine acting class with an audition symposium and a practical guide to the actor’s role in new play development. Actors and burgeoning writers/directors are welcome! Jessica has been at the Williamstown Theatre Festival for many years and has taught several workshops at Williams before. Please search her or the writers for further info on their work or email Jessica with any questions at [email protected]. Participation in at least 3 sessions is required. Sessions meet Sunday (11am-2pm, 4pm-7pm) on September 17, October 8, October 29, and November 19. Dates and times are subject to change.
