The StudioSeries is intended to be a means for producing performance work quickly and simply, providing a laboratory for the exploration of, and experimentation with, all aspects of theatrical performance. In philosophy the StudioSeries takes its inspiration from the energy and inventiveness of Grotowksy’s Poor Theatre and Shakespeare’s wooden O, where the theatrical imagination (of both the artists and audience) allow for the creation of worlds, characters, and events on a stage that need not be bounded by Naturalistic literalism. In substance, StudioSeries projects provide an excellent insight into the scale of production that will most likely be encountered by our student artists in the years after graduation, where limited resources, when taken as a challenge rather than a constraint, can nurture the greatest of inventiveness.
The StudioSeries is produced under the auspices of the Department of Theatre and is open to artists from the entire Williams Community. Visit the StudioSeries website for more information.
